Random notes are useful for finding weak staff positions, but they are not a complete sight-reading routine. Once individual notes feel reliable, practice short unfamiliar melodies so you learn to see direction, repeated shapes, and intervals.
Choose music below your performance level, keep a steady pulse, and avoid repeating the same passage until memory replaces reading. Return to the trainer whenever a particular clef or range becomes the bottleneck.
